Paris Hilton will be getting a little something in the mail from Hallmark this year.

Paris has settled a lawsuit against the company over a greeting card that featured a scene seemingly ripped from her old reality show "The Simple Life." The caption read "Paris's First Day as a Waitress" and made a pun on her trademarked catch phrase, "That's Hot." In 2007, Hilton sued, claiming her publicity rights had been violated.

Last week, attorneys for Hilton and Hallmark advised a California judge that they had reached a settlement. A confidentiality provision limits the release of exact terms, but it's believed Hilton walked away with a favorable package.

When the heiress filed suit in 2007, Hallmark struck back with a free-speech defense.

The case made its way up to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which handed Hilton a huge legal victory last year. The appeals court rejected Hallmark's protected-speech argument and raised doubts that the greeting card was "transformative" expression. The case was remanded back to a lower court.

Since then, the two sides have been preparing for a December trial. Evidence was being collected to ascertain the commercial value of Hilton's endorsement.

Now, pending a judge's blessing, the case is over.

Hilton's name will be stamped in law review articles discussing the tricky balance between publicity rights and the First Amendment -- but we may never know exactly what Hilton's publicity is really worth.

Paris Hilton has left Japan for the United States after being denied entry to the country.

The 29-year-old was stopped at Tokyo's Narita International Airport on Tuesday night, the day after she pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine in Las Vegas.

A spokesman at the immigration bureau declined to say whether she had been barred or was leaving of her own will.

The socialite had been due to take part in a fashion show and promote her perfume with sister Nicky.

She said: "I'm going back home and I look forward to coming back to Japan in the future. I'm really tired."

Paris Hilton arrived in Japan on a chartered plane.

She spent the night at a hotel in Tokyo and was questioned for six hours by immigration officials, according to local media.

She told fans following her on Twitter: "About to take off. Going home now. So dissappointed (sic) to miss my fans in Asia.

"I promise to come back soon. I love you all! Love Paris xoxo."

Japan has strict immigration laws that bar entry to those convicted of drug offences, although exceptions are occasionally granted.

Her recent cocaine bust has blacklisted her at the Wynn and Encore hotels in Las Vegas, but Paris Hilton still has one place she can always call her home away from home- The Hilton!

Las Vegas Hilton spokesman Ken Ciancimino told press, “She has been a guest here many, many times and we would always welcome her back.”

"The history between Paris and this property is long, indeed. We here at the Hilton certainly wish Paris the best and hope that she gets through any and all of her difficult times."

Meanwhile, Paris has been tweeting up a storm, saying, “These rumors going around are so ridiculous, untrue and cruel. I'm not going to even pay attention to them, because I know the truth,” and, “I'm so thankful to all my fans for all the love and support you are giving me. Thank you all. Love you so much. Love Paris xoxo.”

Paris Hilton has slammed the paparazzi who have been following her in Hawaii, branding them "out of control".

The heiress, who flew to Maui with boyfriend Cy Waits last week, revealed that she was even forced to call the police at one point.

"The paparazzi have been out of control in Maui. We had to call the cops because they have been trespassing on our property all week trying to get shots as well as chasing our car wherever we go and almost running other cars off the road," she wrote on her Twitter account.

"It's not only invasive and annoying, but dangerous as well. I flew to Hawaii to relax and get some privacy and they won't stop."

The 29-year-old - who was arrested on suspicion of drug possession on August 27 - added that she is "sick of them and all these ridiculous rumours people are inventing... it's disgusting and very hurtful".

Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas after police found cocaine inside a purse that she was carrying. She has denied that the purse and the drug belonged to her. She is due before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure on October 27.

Paris Hilton's early release from jail after being charged with cocaine possession has been defended by officials at the Clark County Detention Center.

paris hilton released from jailParis Hilton's quick release from jail has been defended by officials.

The heiress - who was arrested in Las Vegas last month alongside boyfriend Cy Waits for cocaine possession - was allowed to leave the Clark County Detention Center after just three hours, which is roughly half the average time it takes to process those faced with the same charge.

However, officials at the correctional facility have defended the decision to speed up the process for the socialite, arguing her presence would have caused too much chaos among the inmates.

Jim Dixon, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief, said: "Yeah, she was treated differently so I don't have a disruption of my process here at the county jail. When you bring in somebody like that, everybody comes over and tries to look at them. I'd have officers attempting to keep inmates away from her. I'd have disruptions."

Despite her seemingly special treatment, the officer insisted Paris was still subject to all regular booking procedures.

She is set to appear before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure on October 27.

It is thought the hotel heiress could face up to four years in prison after 0.8 grams of the illegal drug was found in her handbag when she and Cy were stopped and searched by police on August 27.

Paris has denied the charges, insisting the cocaine did not belong to her as she had borrowed the bag from a friend.

Paris Hilton has been arrested for drug possession after officers in Las Vegas stopped the car she was travelling in.

The American socialite was taken into Clark County Detention Centre this morning on a charge of possession of cocaine.
The 29-year-old was in a car driven by a friend when officers stopped the vehicle late last night.

Public Information officer Marcus Martin said officers pulled over the car after they noticed what they suspected to be marijuana smoke coming from it.

During the stop officers found what appeared to be a controlled substance on Hilton and tests showed it was cocaine, Mr Martin said.

It is not known how much of the drug was found, Mr Martin added.

Las Vegas police lieutenant Wayne Holman said the hotel heiress was still being held in custody.

Hilton left a message on her Twitter page just minutes before the news broke - but gave nothing away about her arrest.
"Going to bed. Sweet dreams everyone," she tweeted.

A man has been arrested at Paris Hilton's home in Los Angeles after she said he was trying to break in while holding two big knives.

Police say she was woken up by the sound of him banging on her windows.

Reports in the US claim she saw him on her CCTV cameras and called for help immediately.

The 29-year-old socialite posted a picture on her Twitter page of the suspect in handcuffs on her lawn, surrounded by police.

She tweeted: "So scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him."

The Los Angeles police department says the man was arrested at around 6.30am and that his motive is unknown.

He's said to be in his 40s and was caught before he was able to get into the house. Police haven't released a name.
