Paris Hilton’s spokesperson has confirmed that the socialite has split from boyfriend of nine months, Benji Madden.

Rumours about the couple’s split began circulating at the weekend after Paris was spotted flirting with former on-off boyfriend Stavros Niarchos in a Miami nightclub and sources close to the pair reported they’d definitely broken up.

Now Paris’ spokesperson has confirmed the news but added that the pair will “remain very good friends” and are still committed to ringing in New Year together, hosting and DJing at an event in Sydney, Australia.

As the split rumours intensified, Paris was spotted out on the town on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights this week - but onlookers claim the break-up was clearly affecting her.

A fellow diner at Murano Restaurant and Lounge in West Hollywood on Wednesday reports: “Paris had a fairly low-key and relaxed dinner with a close girlfriend.”

But later on, by the time Paris had reached Crown Bar around midnight: “Hilton looked distraught and completely lonesome. She wasn’t her usual prim and proper self.

“Her friends were trying to talk to her, and it looked like she was making an effort to talk with all of them even though you could tell she didn’t feel like partying.

“[She was] way more reserved and distracted, like her mind was elsewhere. She was trying very hard to appear carefree, but it was clear she didn’t want to be there and was waiting for the right moment to make her exit.”

It’s been a long time coming, and finally last night (September 30)  Paris Hilton unveiled to the world her new realty show “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF.”

The “Hottie and the Nottie” babe was joined by her boyfriend Benji Madden, parents Rick and Kathy, and brother Conrad at the swanky event, held at Hollywood hot spot LAX.

Paris stopped by KISSFM today where she was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest and they premiered her new song “My BFF” on the show. People Magazine said the “latest single could convert skeptics into fans.” Paris talks a lot about her new show (which premieres TONIGHT at 10pm on MTV), and she is asked about the tragic plane crash her friend DJ AM was involved in recently.

Paris also reveals some of her upcoming projects; Her new show with Ryan Seacrest and her upcoming album. It’s a great interview!

DJ AM is “so lucky to be alive.”

The DJ sent the sentiment via text to Paris Hilton, who relayed the message during an appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show.

“All of the love and support means a lot to him. He’s such a good person,” said Hilton of her longtime friend, who barely escaped a deadly plane crash.

“I think God saved him.”

Paris Hilton has said she hates it when people think she doesn’t work - because she’s actually working all the time.

The heiress, who made her name as a socialite on the Los Angeles scene (before starring in a sex tape and numerous reality TV shows), explained recently that it’s the worst misconception about her: “I work all the time, so I laugh when I hear people say that.

“I am literally running a huge corporation. I have my clothing lines, my champagne, my watches, shoes and purses and dog clothes - every sort of product you can imagine.

“I am doing movies. I am doing my record right now [and] producing, starring in a TV show. So it is a 24 hour, seven day-a-week job.”

And she added that she’ll probably be just as busy in 20 years time: “I’ll probably be a mom with a couple of kids.

“I’d love to have a big family [but I’ll still be] running my business. [Maybe] not traveling so much. I’ll be in a lot of real estate businesses and hotels then. I’ll be running my business from home.”

A documentary about US socialite Paris Hilton has had its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

Director Adria Petty followed the 27-year-old star for a year to make Paris, Not France.

It shows Hilton at work on red carpets, in her business dealings, talking about her image, and relaxing at home.

Petty said: "As soon as I met her, I knew within a minute that she was a cool chick, a smart girl, and hard-working."

Prejudices

She added that Hilton "certainly wasn't lounging on a chaise eating cherries".

"I didn't really go in with too many prejudices against her, but just like everyone else I wondered what she was all about," Petty said.

Hilton posed for photographs and signed autographs before attending the screening at the festival.

Petty said Hilton had "created a mystery about herself that a film like this maybe wouldn't have been a great thing for her in the past".

"But now, she's been so saturated in the media. We're so used to her. To see a new side of her is so exciting," she added. 

Paris Hilton has denied rumours that she’s already pregnant with boyfriend Benji Madden’s child or that they’re even trying for a baby.

Paris was rumoured to be hoping to start a family with the Good Charlotte star as soon as possible - for both personal and professional reasons - after friend Nicole Richie and Benji’s brother Joel Madden welcomed daughter Harlow in January. She then fuelled the rumours by wearing a series of maternity-style smock tops.

However, she’s now said that she’s putting off motherhood for a while yet: “I would love to one day, but for right now it wouldn’t be right to have a kid because I don’t have the time.

“You know right now I’m just focusing on my business. My schedule is so crazy, I am going to London next month for a couple of weeks to do my BFF show in London, so I have a lot of work cut out for me.”

So professionally its been a very successful and productive summer. Also I'm thinking that a lot of the crazier scenes might just end up on the DVD....there is so much footage and even though some will be edited out as all shows must do, I want you to be able to see it and laugh as much as I have been! ;)

When I was little I loved playing with dolls. Now that I'm grown up, this show concept has given me my own real live dollhouse by having the BFF contestants. Imagine all the trouble and fun I could cause all at once just with a text on my blackberry, from me to them...I'm sure you and your friends do a lot of my communicating by text--it's crazy to imagine how important that has become. I will admit...I love texting :) So it was naturally part of taping the show with the BFF contestants...I can't wait for you to see how we used the messages throughout the show.

These kids are gonna blow your minds and touch your hearts with what they go through and reveal. They were sweet and fun and a little crazy! Ha...I can't wait for you all to see the drama of having these girls and guys living under my roof. It was definitely an experience I will cherish forever and never forget. I made friends that I will have for a lifetime.

Wednesday, we all got together at a hotel in LA and shot the casting special that you will all get to see in the next few weeks on MTV. I really wanted you guys to be introduced to these kids and see some sneak peeks from the show. It was so much fun to see everyone again. We had a great time. I took lots of pictures, so I'll post them soon. And because I had so much fun doing this one, I decided I need to find my new British BFF...Everyone knows I love LA. But London, watch out – I'm coming to town and bringing my fast-paced life with me. I'm in the UK all the time, but of course I can't bring all my friends, so I've decided to look for a new BFF across the pond. I need a best friend who is hot, who can keep up with me, and most of all, who is real and won't be a backstabber. I'm not leaving London until I find that amazing girl or guy who can meet the challenges of being my British bestie!I am so excited! London is one of my favorite cities in the world.
