Attorney Michael Goldberg has filed suit against Paris Hilton and her entertainment company, seeking millions of dollars in alleged lost profit related to a promotions contract for a 2006 film she starred in, National Lampoon’s Pledge This!

Goldberg, of Akerman Senterfitt’s Fort Lauderdale office, filed the federal suit as part of his duties in the receivership of the defunct Worldwide Entertainment Group, a former Miami Beach concert promoter accused in 2006 of bilking investors out of $300 million.

One of Worldwide’s subsidiaries, the Entertainment Group Fund, hired Hilton to promote the film for $1 million. Goldberg is now alleging that she didn't honor that contract.

In an interview Goldberg said he doesn't normally comment on litigation, but some national press accounts mistakenly reported Wednesday that he is only seeking $75,000 in the lawsuit. The complaint states the amount in controversy exceeds $75,000.

"We are seeking our lost profits, which we believe to be in the millions of dollars," Goldberg said."Reports that we were only seeking $75,000 are inaccurate."

Hilton played a sorority president seeking to boost her image at South Beach University.

“Hilton failed to attend any talk shows or telephonic or in-person interviews,” Goldberg alleges in the suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Miami.

He is pursuing the global assets of former Worldwide Entertainment mogul Jack Utsick, of Miami Beach, two years after the Securities and Exchange Commission sued him for securities fraud. The SEC said in 2006 the entire company could be a Ponzi scheme.

Worldwide Entertainment and its affiliates still have ownership interest in stadiums and concert venues worldwide.

Utsick's attorney, David Chase of Fort Lauderdale, and his client have declined public comment on the case.

A call to Hilton’s attorney was not immediately returned.

Paris Hilton has been struggling to come up with a name for her new Las Vegas nightclub. Paris has taken over the lease of a building in the city and is now expected to part with $6 million to turn it into a hot new nightspot.

She sourced the location about four months ago and has already paid for the lease which didn’t come cheap. The idea is to get the club up and running before the end of the year and to host the wildest New Year’s Eve party ever.

Paris has already promised her backers that she’ll get them free publicity through one of her reality TV shows. Paris had hoped to call the club ‘Paris’, but her plans were thwarted when she discovered that a nearby casino already uses the same name.

The only slight teething problem is she still hasn’t decided on a name after ‘Paris’ was ruled out. She’s now considering The Paris Hilton Nightclub instead.

Paris Hilton has made a spoof advertisement in response to a jibe by US presidential hopeful John McCain.

A commercial suggested Mr McCain's Democratic rival, Barack Obama, was no more than a lightweight celebrity, like Hilton or Britney Spears.

But in a spoof recording placed on the comedy website Funny or Die, Hilton referred to Mr McCain as "that wrinkly, white-haired guy".

She claimed being used in his ad meant she was now "running for president".

'Complete waste'

Reclining on a chair in a swimming costume and gold stilettos, she said: "Thanks for the endorsement, white-haired dude.

"I want America to know that I'm, like, totally ready to lead."

At the beginning of the star's film, an announcer called Mr McCain "the oldest celebrity in the world, like super-old; old enough to remember when dancing was a sin and beer was served in a bucket".

Hilton's spoof also intersperses images of Mr McCain and Yoda from Star Wars and the cast of TV show The Golden Girls.

The star, who spent 23 days in a Los Angeles prison for breaching probation on a driving ban last year, then discusses her energy "policy".

The 27-year-old suggested a hybrid of Mr McCain's offshore oil-drilling plan and Mr Obama's incentives for new energy technology.

"Energy crisis solved. I'll see you at the debates," she said.

A spokesman for Mr McCain's campaign, Tucker Bounds, said: "Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan."

Hilton's mother Kathy, who - along with her husband - donated $4,600 (£2,353) to Mr McCain's campaign earlier in the year, has commented on the Republican advert.

This was "a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs", she said.
