 Paris is hotel heiress Paris Hilton's debut album, released on her own Heiress Records label, in association with Warner Music. The album was released on August 19 in Australia, August 21 in the UK and in the U.S. on August 22, 2006.

It was leaked to the internet about a week before it was released. The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200, selling 76,091 copies in its first week. As of March 30th, 2007, 607,375 copies of Paris have been sold worldwide. The album has been certified Gold in the U.S.

American heiress Paris Hilton will be the new face of Bordeaux wines, decanter.com can reveal.

Hilton, 26, is set to feature in a TV, poster and print campaign to run throughout the summer and autumn in Europe and the US.

It is understood the ads, which will feature the strapline, 'Paris: One Night in Bordeaux', will be announced at the Vinexpo trade fair in Bordeaux in June this year.

An insider told decanter.com the millionaire socialite herself would launch the campaign on the first day of Vinexpo, arriving at the fair �€“ which is attended by more than 50,000 members of the international wine trade �€“ in a hot air balloon.

'She will descend in a golden dirigible,' the source said, adding that safety regulations had caused headaches for organisers.

'They eventually compromised by allowing the landing zone to extend into the lake in case of an overshoot,' he said.

The Bordeaux wine trade body (CIVB) said that it was planning a new campaign to be launched 'in the autumn' but refused to confirm or deny Hilton's involvement.

This is not the first time Hilton has lent her image to a wine brand: last year she launched Rich, a canned Prosecco, in Austria (pictured). It is however a first for Bordeaux: the CIVB has never employed an international A-list celebrity as part of an advertising campaign.

The visit of the notorious jet-setteuse has set Bordeaux abuzz with speculation - mainly about which chateau she will stay at.

'There was a lot of discussion,' said another well-placed source. 'She [Hilton] liked the oriental feel of Cos d'Estournel, but found Chateau Palmer �€œscary�€� and Petrus �€œpoky�€�. She will probably spend the night at Lafite, as she has family connections with the Rothschilds.'

Vinexpo begins on 17 June.

In an interesting PR move, animal rights group PETA announced its intentions to hire socialite Paris Hilton as the star of a new campaign against burgers. The President of PETA, Ingrid Newkirk commented on the announcement saying, “We were looking for an intelligent, sophisticated woman with a history of passionately supporting different causes. Paris just seemed like a clean, natural fit for us.�

The burger campaign will focus on the plight of cows subjected to farm factory conditions and the affect such industries have on worldwide global carbon emissions. “We’re looking to really make people take notice of this one,� said Newkirk. “We hope to show that these tasty meals are coming from beautiful, living creatures.� The first ads will feature Paris (while wearing lingerie) eviscerating a cow carcass while also eating a hamburger.

Hilton was visibly excited over the first couple proofs. “My God, look how HOT I am! That is so cool,� she exclaimed. “I’m just so happy to help. I had no idea burgers came from cows. I’ve been telling everyone to stay away from Burger King and just eat at Wendy’s or something. I guess they get their burgers from Canada or somewhere and it’s better. Wow, look at my ass.�

The new ads from PETA will start appearing online in May and soon afterwards will run in most major magazines.

Paris Hilton is seeking support from Simple Life co-star Nicole Richie as she anticipates a court hearing next month.

The hotel heiress has been accused of driving while banned and could face 90 days in jail when her fate is decided on April 17.

A source told the Daily Star: "Nicole knows exactly what Paris is going through. Nicole was arrested for driving the wrong way on an eight-lane highway last year and then spent time in rehab. She is one of many of Paris's pals who are doing everything they can to cheer her up."

Hilton was banned from driving following a drink-related reckless driving offence in September, but she allegedly got back behind the wheel last month. Her spokesman Elliot Mintz has claimed that she was not aware that her licence had been suspended.

He added: "The situation is being handled by Paris's attorney."
