Hollywood — In an exclusive interview with Dateline Hollywood, Paris Hilton railed against Hollywood’s newest celebrities, David Beckham and Posh Spice. “The media is fawning like they’re superstars, but they haven’t actually done anything,” Hilton said. “Can anyone explain why I should care about these people?”

The Beckhams, arguably England’s biggest celebrities, recently moved to L.A. where David Beckham is playing for the Galaxy, the city’s Major League Soccer team. Soccer remains an unpopular professional sport in the U.S., however, and few Americans remember much about the Spice Girls, leaving most citizens unsure what to make about “Beck” and “Posh.” An NBC special chronicling Victoria Beckham’s move to Los Angeles received mediocre ratings.

Nonetheless, celebrity media outlets from TMZ to Access Hollywood to E! News have covered their every move, which Hilton said forced her to speak out.

“I’m talking not just for myself, but for my millions of young female fans who are the most active consumers of entertainment news,” Hilton explained. “We demand that celebrities earn their place amongst our nation’s entertainment elite, rather than have it handed to them on a silver platter. The sense of entitlement that Beck and Posh display frankly disgusts me.”

Hilton, an heir to the Hilton hotels fortune who has earned millions by endorsing fashion and beauty products, recording albums, and appearing at club openings, said that she was most concerned about the example that Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham has been setting for America’s teenage girls.

“What kind of a lesson are we teaching our young women by treating Posh like she’s done something just for marrying a hottie soccer player,” she asked rhetorically. “If she does something important, like flash her cooch at a Hollywood club or land a reality show on E! or cause an accident on Robertson Avenue, then of course she’s an important story for journalists to cover. But right now, it’s like she’s famous just for being famous. Every time I look at her, I weep for the state of American culture.”

The ex-con/socialite spent a beautiful summer day at the beach -- by dressing herself and her puppy in matching leopard print bathing suits; putting on a pair of stilettos, and throwing a surfboard in the backseat of her Bentley.

TMZ cameras spotted Paris embarking on a mega-shopping spree on Monday, which started with the purchase of a boogie board and surf board at the Surf Shack in Malibu -- both pink, of course.

But that was only the beginning -- Paris then hit up a nearby pet store, buying some toys and beds for some of the many animals in her menagerie. After that, she wandered into a bookstore for some photography-based reading material, before finally ending up at a coffee shop where she bought both a hot and an iced coffee.

After the shopathon, a fan approached Ms. Hilton and gave her a free gift -- though clearly, she could have afforded it.

Paris Hilton found herself a new man! The hotel heiress is dating clothing designer Tyler Atkins. The pair was seen kissing at Malibu’s Polaroid Beach House. The hotel heiress and her new boyfriend were also spotted together at the Lia Sophia clambake party where he was cuddling her puppy, Cinderella.



“They were making out like teenagers,” a source claims.

Tyler, 21, and Paris, 26, met through Koby Abberton, an Australian pro-surfer, who has been teaching Paris how to surf.

Less than a month removed from her sojourn in a Los Angeles lockup, Paris Hilton is itching to make the transition from jailbird to songbird. “I’m already working on my new record,” Paris says. “I’ve been in meetings with Scott [Storch] and we’ve been working on it.”

Storch is the the proclaimed producer who helped guide Hilton through her eponymous first album. He’s also known for his chart-busting work with Beyoncé Knowles, Christina Aguilera, R. Kelly, 50 Cent and Dr. Dre. “I’ve been working on it with Scott for a few weeks,” adds Hilton, whose most recent musical endeavor was as cover girl on the U.K. version of the new Smashing Pumpkins single, “Tarantula”—a favor for friend Billy Corgan.

Sources close to The Simple Life star say she is determined to make the new album better than her last, which met with skepticism and lukewarm sales. “She takes voice lessons several times a week,” says an insider. “She’s really serious about her music career.”

The 26-year-old even had a meeting Monday with MTV executives, though it’s not clear if that meeting was connected to her upcoming sophomore music release or her collaboration with Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee. (Lee has confirmed he’s working with Hilton on a feature project but has not elaborated; MTV has described the project as in very early development.)
